What is the Métis Census Data Visualization Dashboard?

The Métis Census Data Visualization Dashboard provides an overview of key insights derived from our recent census, offering data on various aspects of our governments and citizenship. This dashboard provides users with the ability to interact with the data by theme and question, and to consider perspectives of Citizens by gender, age, and geographic location.

How to Use this Site

We encourage exploration of the data using the topic filter or search bar conveniently located in the upper right corner of the web page. Upon selecting a specific question, users can interact with graphs and tables, adjusting filters and gaining insights by hovering over graph bars.

Data Privacy

In order to prioritize privacy and maintain the anonymity of our Citizens, certain data may be concealed from view. Specifically, if a small number of Citizens selected a particular response to a given question, the counts related to that response are suppressed and not displayed.

Our Approach

Approach to Data Weighting

The displayed information represents the respondents to the Métis Nation census and has not been weighed by the total population. The census only included citizens of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government and the Métis Nation of Ontario. The number of Métis citizens who responded to the survey is 65,348

Approach to Gender Demographic

We follow Statistics Canada’s approach from the 2021 Census by reporting gender instead of sex at birth and reporting a gender variable with two categories: Male+ and Felame+. Male+ includes men and some non-binary persons, and Female+ includes women and some non-binary persons. This distinction is necessary to protect the confidentiality of respondents.

Approach to Age Demographic

Data are segmented into: Young adults (15-24), Older adults (25-64), and Elders (65+).
